Rainy Day Wedding at Copenhagen City Hall
Last week’s blog featured Lucy and James up in Dyrehaven. This week, we want to show off their wonderful wedding. It is easy to get married in Denmark, even if you are coming from a different country. The Danes believe two consenting adults shouldn’t have a lot of bureaucratic red tape to get married, making Copenhagen one of the top wedding destinations in Europe. Many of these weddings happen at Copenhagen City Hall, or Københavns Rådhus, as the locals call it. But don’t wait to contact city hall as they are quite busy and paperwork takes some time. Lucy and James love Copenhagen and enjoyed all the city had to offer. From the delectable cake and cookies from Leckerbaer bakery and a cozy stay at Babette Guldsmelden Hotel, to the breathtaking dried flower bouquet from Narcissus Flowers that got it’s own suitcase on the plane over, their day went off without a hitch– almost. One thing you can count on in Copenhagen is the weather, or the fact that you can never count on the weather. Lucy and James were lucky to get a bit of sun for their engagement photos, but the wedding day was a different story. It was grey and wet- typical Copenhagen weather. They were prepared however with a great umbrella that fit their style and perhaps more important: good attitudes. It was very important after the wedding at Copenhagen City Hall for James and Lucy to take more intimate photos at the Kastellet and Christiansborg. We also were able to work some inside city hall at at the Hotel, making the rain no problem. (Also can I add how romantic rain is in photos? Lucy was a champ in not letting the cold bother her, and I think the photos are proof that planning and trusting your photographer can get you some amazing photos of your wedding day.
