Visit with Dronning Margrethe, Queen of Denmark
Big changes are afoot at Twig & Turtle Photography and while we aren’t quite ready to announce them all, we haven’t blogged in quite a while. This blog comes to you from Copenhagen, Denmark. Today marks the 75th birthday of Queen (or Dronning in Danish) Margrethe, Lots and lots of people turned out at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen to wish her well. The Queen came out on the balcony along with Prince Joachim and Crown Prince Frederik and their families. And then she took to a horse-drawn carriage for a ride to city hall. I must say we were packed in like sardines and it is very hard to take photos while being jostled but this was so much fun to see the Queen and everyone sang happy birthday to her. The Danes have what is called a constitutional monarchy which means the monarchy cannot enact laws with out the permission of Parliament. But the Queen is the most visible ambassador for her country. The Danish monarchy can be traced back 1000 years and is one of the oldest in the world. Just in case you didn’t know.
Tillykke med dagen Dronning Margrethe!
