One of the things I love most about Copenhagen is that is truly an international city with so many people from all over the world. One such couple is Sara and Arash from Iran. They met in university 8 years ago. They got married and moved to Budapest, Hungary before Arash got a phd position here in Copenhagen at the Technical University of Denmark. I asked Sara why she wanted anniversary photos and she said every year on their anniversary they take photos and print one for the wall at home. Right now they have 5 including the wedding photo. She wants to keep doing this for at least 20 years so they can create a wall full of photos.
This sounds like a great project. Most people don’t print photos and put them on the walls anymore. The digital revolution has people posting to Facebook, and the rest goes neglected. But in 20 years Sara and Arash will have a living wall full of memories. The wall will show growth and change: big moments in life that deserve to be honored and not locked away in a computer.
We met on a beautiful sunny Saturday at Frederiksberg Have. It is a great park. There is a “castle,” a zoo, a river and many trails on which to play. As I was waiting for Sara and Arash 5 wedding couples came in to the park with their photographers for photo sessions. (I’m not kidding, I thought it could be a bridal convention or something, but no, it is just a pretty place in the middle of the city to make photos.) Anyway we took off in the opposite direction of all the brides because I didn’t want to compete for space and I always want look for different places. We found a nice bridge, some huge old trees and the old elephant house near the Copenhagen Zoo. This was a fun shoot on one of the last summer days we are going to get here. Sarah and Arash were so much fun and you could really feel the love. I am thrilled to have been chosen to be part of that wall. Enjoy.
