I love shooting weddings in Mexico. The warm weather embraces me like an old friend. The sea is a color of blue that is so beautiful it hurts to look at it. As I stand on the beach with my feet in the white sand I wonder at how a place so magical can exist and I am filled with gratitude that I have the opportunity to not to just to be there but to work and capture it’s beauty. No one ever has to twist my arm to do a destination wedding. So when Amber called I jumped, said, “Yes thank you,” and squealed a little.
Amber and Johns wedding was a dream. It was at the all inclusive Eldorado Seaside Suites just south of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. The couple is from San Antonio so it is just a short hop to the Caribbean. (Lucky ducks!) We started on the Day of the Dead with a welcome reception with the wedding the next day and a trash the dress shoot on secluded Xpu-ha beach the day after.
Amber and John are a warm and silly couple and they were truly up for anything I told them to do. (Let me tell you it is hard to wear a wedding dress into the ocean and make it look effortless!) Enjoy.
