Why get married in Denmark?   Many people are now choosing small intimate destination weddings over traditional we-have-to-invite-everyone-we know shindigs at home. You can read more about why here on The Knot.  We here in Copenhagen think that if you are looking into a destination, you should definitely consider us in the north. This weeks blog is a collaboration between us here at Twig and Turtle Photography and with Anne Wolmer Stilling, a wedding planner also based in Copenhagen who owns Pure Wedding. We did a inspiration shoot with some of her favorite vendors last fall.  (Actually I think it was the last bit of sun we have seen!)  But back to the question, why get married in Denmark?  We’ll just let Anne explain.

A lot of people don’t really know Denmark, I mean they know of the name Denmark, but is it a city somewhere, or a country, and where is it located, is some of the questions that most people think about when they hear “Denmark”, and exactly that, is one of the reasons you should choose to get married in Denmark. It may seems like a weird reason, but think about it, you and your guests will not just get to experience a wedding, but you all will also get an adventure out of it. It is after all the land of  fairy tales. H.C Anderson, Hamlet, dragons and unicorns and so many castles.

In Denmark you will experience great new food, beautiful old architecture, being right by the water but still be in the city, and open minded people that think that all adults (no matter sex, religion, etc.) that will celebrate their love to each other have the right to do it.
In Denmark you can have your wedding almost just like you want it; on the beach, in the park, in an old church, on a boat, in big amazing buildings or small intimate beautiful buildings; you can have the ceremony in one of the old and beautiful parks, then have cocktails on a boat in the canals, and celebrate and have the reception in one of the old charming beautiful buildings – it is just the imagination that sets the limits.

In Denmark we celebrate the love, and all foreign visitors must love how easy it is to get married here. If you think it would be too hard to plan a wedding in another country, you can always get help from one of the wedding planners in Denmark, especially Pure Wedding which  has great experience in helping foreign couples achieve their dream wedding in Denmark.
