Copenhagen City Hall Wedding

Paula and Craig came to Copenhagen just to get married.  Danes believe if you are two consenting adults, there shouldn’t be much to stand in your way, especially government paperwork. Paula and Craig are from two different countries and live in a third, so a city hall wedding in Copenhagen was the easy choice.  But those of us who live in Denmark know that Copenhagen is a pretty great city to get married in. For Paula and Craig we started our day at the Copenhagen City Hall, or as it is called in Denmark Københavns Rådhus. After the ceremony we then wandered though back streets with vibrant painted houses and along the canal ending up where the Parliament and Royal Stables are in Christiansborg Slot. I always ask my clients what type of locations they want and tailor each tour to their wishes.  That way when all is done and they are picking out photos to hang on the walls at home, they can get something that not only reminds them of the day, but fits with their style and personality.

And Copenhagen has lots of personality. The city has plenty of old and modern buildings, small streets with rows of brightly colored houses and winding canals. It has castles and unicorns as well as as nature.  All make excellent choices for your wedding photography locations and most are with in walking distance of the city center.

In addition to colorful architecture,  Copenhagen has over 15 Michelin starred restaurants with Geranium on the top of the list with 3 stars. If you are a foodie, you have no doubt heard of  Noma which has twice been named the world’s best restaurant.  There are also plenty of hidden gems, waiting to be discovered.

Danes love to see brides and grooms so don’t be surprised if people yell “Tillykke!” as they zoom past you on their bikes.  It means congratulations, and you can just answer back:  “Tak.”
